A. Laurene Anderson, 82 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, February
27, 2012 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. Laurene was born November 11, 1929, the youngest of two children to John and Alice (Nelson) Erickson on their farm south of Funk in Phelps County.

Laurene was baptized and confirmed at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, where she was lead to a personal relationship with Jesus by Pastor Rudolf Anderson. She continued to serve and attend Fridhem for many years.

She began school at the age of four, attending the District #15 in Phelps County with her brother, Harold. Her high school years were spent at Wilcox, Nebraska, where she graduated with the class of 1946. She then pursued higher education at the Luther College in Wahoo, Nebraska. She then taught school for two years at District #26 in Phelps County.

On August 30, 1949, she was united in marriage to Bruce H. Anderson and to this union two children were born: Linda and Richard.

Laurene spent her time working along side her husband on the farm and dedicating her life to her children. She was a loving wife and mother. In 1968, they began attending Emmaus Evangelical Free Church north of Funk, where she served in many capacities until her health failed.

Music was important in her life. She enjoyed singing, playing piano, organ, accordion and joining Bruce in providing programs for nursing homes, senior citizen centers and The Farmers Market with the "Son's of the Soil."

In April of 2005, she began to make her home at Holdrege Memorial Homes as a result of her health. The main highlight of her day was when Bruce would join her for dinner and supper at the home. Together they prayed every night for family, friends and listened to gospel music. She loved the staff at Holdrege Memorial Homes as if they were family and appreciated the friendships she made and the excellent care she received.

Her Swedish Tea Rings, Swedish Rice and cinnamon rolls were enjoyed by many and she was proud of Swedish decent.

Laurene was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters-in-law: Isabelle Erickson, Ruth Peterson and her husband, Henry and Jeanne Anderson.
