Funeral Services for Lavonia M. Snodgrass will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Orleans, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating.  Interment will be held in the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Nebraska following the service.

Lavonia Mae (Rowan) Snodgrass, 90 years of age, of Norton, Kansas (formerly of the Orleans) departed this life on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Andbe Home in Norton.  Lavonia was born February 7, 1924 near Brandon, Nebraska, the eldest of three children born to Charles "Raymond" and Susan Elnora (Stubbert) Rowan.  She received her primary education in Custer County, Nebraska and then Fall River, Kansas through the 8 th grade.

She was a member of the Mascot Evangelical Church and transferred her membership to the Orleans United Presbyterian Church in 1958.

On June 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to Harold F. Snodgrass in Garden City, Kansas and to this union four children were born:  Michael Ray, Larry LeRoy, David William and Sylvia Star.  The family made their home on the Snodgrass homestead near Mascot in Harlan County, Nebraska.  Her life consisted of being a homemaker and her family was her main focus.  She was preceded in death by Harold on November 9, 1978.  Following Harold's passing, she and her daughter, Star moved to Orleans.

Lavonia was a faithful member in the Presbyterian Church in Orleans.  She sold Avon for many years and was a wonderful quilter; making many quilts for herself and others.

Besides her husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Lavonia is survived by her four children:  Michael Snodgrass and his wife, Kay of Norton, Larry Snodgrass and his wife, Connie and David Snodgrass and his wife, Marilyn all of Orleans, and Star Harvie and her husband, Greg of Les Cayes, Haiti; four granddaughters:  Winona Shawn Hegemann and her husband, Brian of Howells, Nebraska, Amanda Jeane Whitesel and her husband, James of Miller, Nebraska, Jessica Leigh Harvie of Harrisburg, Nebraska and Sylvia Ann Caley and her husband, Patrick of Phoenix, Arizona;

6 great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Smith of Pawnee City, Nebraska; brother, Thomas Rowan and his wife, Frieda of Lexington, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford.

A memorial has been established in Lavonia's honor and kindly suggested to Camp Joy.
