A private graveside service for LaVonne A. Schuller will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.
LaVonne Audrey Schuller, 90 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. LaVonne was born on April 22, 1934, in Kearney. She was the daughter of Carl and Alice (Westerlin) Sohrweid. LaVonne attended primary school in rural Watertown, high school at Kearney and Riverdale. She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1951, Kearney State Teachers College in 1955, and graduate school after this.
On August 16, 1958, she was united in marriage to Bernard Schuller and this union was blessed with three sons: Thomas, Daniel, and Jon.
She retired in 1997, following 39 years of teaching. LaVonne taught Kindergarten in Kearney for three years, First grade in Holdrege for three years, and then Title I in Loomis Public Schools for 32 years. She loved teaching and students always loved her. She had a special talent for teaching little children. Following her retirement, LaVonne was employed at Patty's Hallmark and then Phelps Memorial Health Center.
She was preceded by her husband; and her parents.
She is survived by her three sons: Thomas and wife, Nancy of Eagle River, Wisconsin; Daniel and wife, Laura of Loveland, Colorado; and Jon and wife, Dawn of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren: Jonna Schuller; Carden Schuller; and Andrea Berg (Doug Chin).
LaVonne will be remembered as a loving, kind person. Her greatest love was her family. LaVonne's family would like to extend a special thank you to all her special friends, caregivers, and community members, for their kindness and help over the years. We are forever grateful to you all.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with family present at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in LaVonne's honor and kindly suggested to the Nebraska Prairie Museum; Holdrege Public Library; or the Phelps County Senior Center.
