Funeral Services for Lee H. Charleston will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Minister Denny Myers, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Lee Henri Charleston, 78 years of age, of Aurora, Colorado (formerly of Holdrege) passed away on Monday, October 15, 2007 at home with his family by his side. Lee was born December 24, 1928 in Holdrege, the son of Henri and Gladys (Moore) Charleston. He received his education from Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1947.
On October 12, 1951, Lee was united in marriage to Ruth McQueen in Columbus, IN. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving in the Corps of Engineers from 1947 to 1951 in Okinawa and Camp Adaberry in Indiana. Lee's career path was Charleston Construction, ranching and then as a Realtor.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ruth of Aurora, CO; daughter, Laurie Haux and her husband, Bob of Aurora; son, Mike Charleston and his wife, Christine of Papillion, Nebraska; grandchildren: Andrew, Matt and Tim Fogle all of Aurora and Erinne and Caelan Charleston of Papillion; sister, Lois Cox of Aurora; brother, Richard Charleston and his wife, Ardell of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters: Wanda Lee in infancy and Gina Marie Charleston at the age of four.
Lee will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Thursday, October 18, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
