A private family inurnment and graveside service for Leon E. Aman will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Leon Edward Aman, 89 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, formerly of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at his home in Bertrand. He was born on August 24, 1934, in McCook, Nebraska, the third of five children, born to Harry and Goldie (Alexander) Aman. He received his education from McCook Public Schools.

Following his education, Leon began working as a scrap metal worker for Clarence Kidder in Holdrege.

On March 20, 1954, Leon was united in marriage to Violet M. Elwood.  The couple made their home in Holdrege where they owned and operated the Maytag Laundromat, for years.  Leon also worked as an over the road truckdriver for Sawyer Sand & Gravel of Holdrege for over 30 years.  He later worked for McClymont Implement, delivering machinery.

Together they enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing to country music, camping, traveling and playing cards.  Rummy was his favorite card game to play.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet in 2008; brother, Everett L. Aman, and his wives, Delores and Elenor; sister, Mamie Nielsen and husband, Wesley; nieces and nephews:  Linda McConnell; Sonja McConnell; Michael David McConnell; and Ronnie Aman; and two brothers-in-law: Lloyd McConnell and Fred Cooper.

Leon is survived by his sisters:  Pearl Kaiser and husband, John of Holdrege; and Bonnie Shepherd and husband, Richard of Holdrege; three nieces:  Connie Aman; Jean Walker and husband, Greg; and Elizbeth Eckmann and husband, Jim; two sisters-in-law:  Grace Elmore and husband, Delwin of Holdrege; and Joyce Cooper of Willington, Kansas; along with a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring his wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Leon's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for future designation.
