Funeral Services for Mrs. Ivan (LeonaBelle) Kipp, will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Michelle Reed and Mr. Wayne Carlson officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery at Bertrand, Nebraska.

LeonaBelle (Walters) Kipp, 94 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.

LeonaBelle was born the second daughter of Archie Myron and Bessie (Cole) Walters on her parent's farm in Gosper County, Nebraska, on September 3, 1916. She attended rural school District 29 through the first eight years of her education and graduated from the Bertrand High School with the class of 1934. LeonaBelle taught in rural schools for three years. On Christmas Day, December 25, 1936, she was united in marriage to Ivan Marcus Kipp at her parents' home on the farm, southwest of Bertrand.

Ivan and LeonaBelle's first years of farming were during the Dirty Thirties and the Great Depression. The first six years they lived on farms in Gosper County. In 1943, they moved to a farm southwest of Loomis, Nebraska and in 1946, they moved to their farm west of Loomis. They resided there until 1976, when they retired and moved into Holdrege. They enjoyed spending fifteen winters in Arizona.

Ivan and LeonaBelle were baptized and joined the First United Methodist Church in Bertrand in 1953 and then transferred their membership to the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege.

LeonaBelle was very active in the Methodist Women's Society. She also enjoyed the 20 plus years that she belonged to the Rural Bible Study Group.

LeonaBelle enjoyed her hobbies of china painting, playing the organ and quilting at the Senior Center.
Besides her parents and husband, Ivan, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Johnson and a niece, Patricia Reenstjerna.

She leaves to mourn her passing, nieces; nephews; cousins; plus other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 4-7 p.m.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege.
