Memorial Services for Leonard N. Andreasen will be conducted from the Bethel Lutheran Church at Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend David Sites and Intern Nathan Metzger, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Kearney Cemetery at Kearney, Nebraska at 1:30 p.m.
Leonard Norman Andreasen, 83 years of age, of Holdrege (formerly of Alma, Nebraska) passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Leonard was born on December 7, 1923 at Columbus, North Dakota, the third of four children of Victor and Thea (Olsen) Andreasen. As a young boy the family made their home in Nebraska and Leonard received his education at Elm Creek, Nebraska. Following his education, Leonard served his country during WW II in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1945. He then returned to Nebraska and farmed with his father in the Elm Creek and Overton, Nebraska area.
On November 3, 1951 he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Gillming at Grand Island, Nebraska and to this union two daughters were born: Connie and Pat. The family made their home in Kearney, Nebraska, until moving to California. In 1968 they returned to Kearney and later in years the couple moved to Alma, Nebraska in 1981. In October of 2006, Leonard and Norma moved to Holdrege.
Through the years, Leonard drove truck and then was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years for Ostgren Construction Company of Holdrege.
Following his retirement, Leonard loved to fish at Harlan County Resorvoir, enjoyed tending to his garden and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Norma of Holdrege; two daughters: Connie Broe and her husband, Dennis of Adams, Nebraska and Pat Ourada and her husband, Stan Ourada, D.V.M. of Holdrege; six grandchildren: Jeremy Broe, D.C. and his wife, Carmen, Justin Broe, D.C., Megan Broe, B.S.N., Jason Ourada, M.D., Emily Worth, D.O.T. and her husband, Luke and Andrew Ourada and his wife, Amber; one great-granddaughter, Ayden Ourada; one sister, Yvonne Gibbons and her husband, Ross of Elm Creek; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Verden Andreasen; sister, Lorraine Pettett and two nephews: Greg Pettett and Victor Gibbons.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Leonard's wishes for cremation.
