Leonard Anthony Streff, 91 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Leonard was born on July 9, 1924 at Juniata, Nebraska, the seventh of eleven children born to Charles and Elizabeth (Weber) Streff. Leonard received his education from Roseland Public School and graduated from Roseland High School with the class of 1942.

Following his education, Leonard was employed by Dunton-Lainson in Hastings until he was inducted into the United States Army on June 22, 1944. Leonard served with the 102nd Ozark Division during the conclusion of WW II.

On September 23, 1944 he was united in marriage to Marcellina Theresa Hynes at Ft. McClellan in Anniston, Alabama, while Leonard was still serving his country. On June 27, 1946, Leonard was honorably discharged from the Army and returned home to Nebraska. To this union five children were born: Rodney, Kathleen, Constance, Vickie and Laura.

After Leonard's discharge he went to work for Worthing Motors and later Friend's Motor Supply both of Hastings. In 1962, Leonard and his business partner, Gerald Weber started S & W Auto Parts by purchasing a branch of Friend's Motor Supply in Holdrege. They continued to be co-owners and operated NAPA stores in central Nebraska until their retirement in 1989.

Throughout the years, Leonard enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and many friendship bonds were formed as a member of the Holdrege Country Club. He also volunteered for over twenty years at the Phelps Community Pantry and was honored to be a twenty-five gallon blood donor through the Red Cross. He was a devoted member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, where he was active as an Acolyte and continued to serve his church and community in many capacities as long as his health permitted. Leonard was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. Most important in his life was his family. He delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they loved and adored him.

Besides his parents; Leonard was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Brenden Lawrence; son-in-law, David T. Lawrence; two sisters: Marie Hoffman and Margaret Perez; and five brothers: Joseph, James, Herbert, Charles and Nicholas Streff.
