Funeral Services for LeRoy A. Johnson will be conducted from the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend David Otten and Vicar B.J. Fouts, officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery.

LeRoy A. Johnson, 70 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at his home in Oxford. LeRoy was born March 20, 1936 on the family farm two miles east of Oxford in Harlan County, Nebraska, the youngest of two children of Frank and Tina (Schroeder) Johnson. He received his education at Oxford, graduating from Oxford High School with the class of 1953. Following his education, LeRoy was employed by his cousin, Dean Johnsen at Johnsen Implement until engaging in farming on the family farm east of Oxford with his Dad.

On October 2, 1965 he was united in marriage to Patty (Hosier) Karash at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford. LeRoy focused all his efforts on the family farm to provide for his family.

LeRoy served as a past member of the Oxford School Board and past member of the Oxford Volunteered Fire Department. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to play cards with his friends.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Patty of Oxford; two sons: Randy Karash and his wife, Marlana of Oxford and Gene Johnson and his wife, Dana of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Terri Groteluschen and her husband, Lonnie of Humphrey, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Joyce Joedman and her husband, Henry of Aurora, Nebraska, Carol Ann Quinn and her husband, George of Oxford and Ronna Sparks of Franktown, Colorado; brother-in-law, Steve Hosier and his wife, Irene of Oxford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd Johnson and his wife, Avis; grandson, Nathan Groteluschen and two brothers-in-law: Roger Sparks and Dean Roberts.

LeRoy will lie in state at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford on Sunday, December 17, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
