Memorial graveside services for LeRoy F. Loose will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oxford Cemetery at Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Jason Dowell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Oxford American Legion Post #219 in conjunction with the United States Army Military Honors Team.
LeRoy Fredrick Loose, 83 years of age, of Oxford, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at his home in Oxford. LeRoy was born July 28, 1931 in Oxford, the eldest of ten children born to Floyd Evens and Jessie Catherine (McConnel) Loose. He attended Oxford Public Schools, graduating from Oxford High School with the class of 1951.
Following his education, LeRoy was inducted into the United States Army on May 14, 1952, where he served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on May 7, 1954, and then served in the Army Reserves for eight years.
LeRoy was blessed with seven children: Nova, Dana, Dean, Randy, Thomas, Steven, and Mary. Throughout the years, LeRoy drove truck both in-state and out-of-state and worked for various farmers. He was employed by Swanson's, Phelps County Department of Roads, Better Buys, a church and paint coating factory, for Bonnie Forge and the Oxford Tire Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, aquariums, playing pool, and most recently LeRoy enjoyed gardening, playing cards and volunteering at the Thrift Store in Oxford.
He was a longtime member of the Oxford American Legion Post #219. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Bernice Stegman and Barbara Hotaling; and four brothers: Charles, Wilford, Ronald, and Donald Loose.
He is survived by his seven children: Nova Loose of Oxford, Dana Baxter of Stamford, Dean Loose of Oxford, Randy Loose of Oxford, Thomas Loose of California, Mary Fries of California and Steven Loose; three grandchildren: Dennis Richardson of Orleans, Philip Wilbur and Crystal Fries both of California; two sisters: Beth Cole of Stamford, Nebraska and Vicki Huggett of Bertrand; and brother, Franklin Loose of Denver, Colorado.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring LeRoy's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in LeRoy's honor and will be designated at a later date.
