Celebration of Life Services for Lester G. Trollope will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Troy Vandament officiating. Private family inurnment will be held prior to the services in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege with military honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Army Military Honors Team.

Lester George Trollope, 73 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at his home in Holdrege surrounded by his family. Lester was born on January 11, 1943 at Orleans, Nebraska, the third of six children born to Lamon Elvin and Lily (Buzzard) Trollope. He received his education from Arapahoe Public School, Axtell Public School and then Holdrege Public Schools.

Following his education, he was inducted into the United States Army on December 4, 1963 and served his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on March 31, 1964.

On July 28, 1964 he was united in marriage to Debra Ann Sand and to this union five children were born: Kim, Ronald, Michael, Timothy and Tina. The family made their home in several communities in the Midwest until settling to Salida, Colorado. While in Salida, Les was employed as the service manager for Monarch Motors before returning to Holdrege.

On March 10, 1983 he was united in marriage to Linda Sue Johnson at Phillipsburg, Kansas. They continued to reside in Holdrege, where Les owned and operated the Conoco Station until his employment as a mechanic for Don Loar Ford. After his retirement, he ran an automotive repair shop, Trollope's Auto Repair at his west farm for several years.

During his off time, Les enjoyed camping, boating, pheasant hunting and also attended stock cars races. He was an avid Husker and Denver Broncos football fan and loved NASCAR. Most of all he loved the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Lester was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Covey; nephews: Mike Johnson and Jim Beckman; and brothers-in-law: Dean Beckman and Walter Goos.

Les leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Linda Johnson-Trollope of Holdrege; five children: Kim Covey and her husband, Mike of Holdrege, Ron Trollope and his wife, Joan of Fairmont, Nebraska, Mike Trollope and his wife, Barbara of Albion, Nebraska, Tim Trollope and his wife, Lindsay of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Tina Trollope of Elk Grove, California; two step-children: Heidi Nino de Rivera of Salem, Oregon and Carlos Nino de Rivera and his wife, Erika of Holdrege;

24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Joy Goos of Holdrege, Shirley Johnson and her husband, Richard of Holdrege, and Donna Vandament and her husband, Jim of Pryor, Oklahoma; two brothers: Larry Trollope and Lynn Trollope and his wife, Tracy all of Sturgis South Dakota and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial book signing will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Les' honor and will be designated at a later date.
