Funeral Services for Lillian E. Gustafson will be conducted from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell, Nebraska on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Elvin Crosby, officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Axtell.
Lillian Elizabeth Gustafson, 89 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Lillian was born September 17, 1918 at Burlington, Colorado, one of eight children of Oscar E. and Anna O. (Burgeson) Lonn. Lillian received her primary education from a rural school near Atlanta and then graduated from Atlanta High School. She then pursued higher education at Mary Lanning School of Nursing to receive her training as a Registered Nurse.
On October 9, 1961 she was united in marriage to Allen G. "Red" Gustafson and the couple made their home in Axtell. Lillian worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years at the Holdrege Hospital. On October 20, 1984, she was preceded in death by her husband, Red. Following Red's passing, Lillian moved to Holdrege, where she resided until her passing.
Lillian was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell since 1961, she enjoyed needlework, reading, playing cards, was active at the Holdrege Senior Center and loved spending time with her family.
She leaves to mourn her passing her brother, Robert Lonn and his wife, Beverly of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Della Davison and her husband, John of Prosser, Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Carl, David, Lawrence and George Lonn and Paul Lonn in infancy and one sister, Marie Johnson.
Mrs. Gustafson will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Friday, November 2, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory and suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Axtell or the Holdrege Senior Center.
