Lillian E. V. Pelowski

Funeral Service for Lillian E. Pelowski will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Reverend Jan Gluth King officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Lillian Elsie Virginia Pelowski, 88 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. She was born on February 18, 1937, in Axtell, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Charles M. and Elsie J. M. (Erickson) Verbeck. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege. She received her education from Holdrege Public Schools and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1955.

In December of 1960, she was united in marriage to Jim Paling at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, and to this union, they were blessed with two children: Janice and Tim. On October 14, 1972, she was united in marriage to Donald Pelowski at Bethel Lutheran Church, and together with Don's three children, Sheryl, Susan, and Dean, their family was complete.

The family lived in Holdrege, where Lillian was employed as the bookkeeper at First National Bank and later at KUVR radio station. Don and Lillian celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October of 2022.

Lillian enjoyed playing cards and was active in some card clubs, as well as bowling in the bowling league in Holdrege. She also enjoyed bingo, fishing, and music. Lillian and Don took several trips with her sister Rosemary Ecklun and her husband, Eugene. She was a faithful, lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Daniel Verbeck.

Lillian leaves to celebrate her life; her husband, Don Pelowski of Holdrege; her children: Janice Paling of Lincoln, Nebraska; Tim Paling and his wife, Cheri of Hastings, Nebraska; Sheryl Haack and her husband, Mike of Hastings; Susan Aumiller of Wakonda, South Dakota; and Dean Pelowski of Kearney, Nebraska; 10 Grandchildren: John Haack and his wife, Eden; Gage Haack; Megan Kendall and her husband, Gary; Tyler Pelowski; Josh Paling and his wife, Denise; Brandon Paling and his wife, Schandra; Rebecca Pelowski; Haley Wooge; Hannah Wooge; Jennifer Pelowski; many great-grandchildren; sister: Rosemary Ecklun and her husband, Eugene of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Margery Verbeck of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Lillian's honor and kindly suggested to Bethel Lutheran Church or the Holdrege Senior Center.
