Mass of Christian Burial for Linda Araujo will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Father Jose Chavez as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery at Lexington. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church.

Linda Sue Araujo, 64 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege, following a courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born July 30, 1952 at Cambridge, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Henry William and Viola Hilker and was raised by her aunt and uncle, Frieda and Zip Mohrman. She received her education from Arapahoe Public Schools.

On November 16, 1979, she was united in marriage to Pedro Felix "Pete" Araujo at the Christian Church in Edison, Nebraska and to this union five children were born: Dana, twins: Joe and Joy, Richard and Shane. The family made their home in the Oxford area.

She worked at Derby Café in Arapahoe and later at the Oxford Café, until she started as a Dietary Aid at the Walker Post Manner in Oxford until it closed. Linda enjoyed the interaction with the public, at Duckwall's General Store in Oxford until it closed. Most recently, Linda worked at AG Valley Co-Op in Edison until her health began to fail.

Linda enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She loved the outdoors, spending time with family camping and going for drives. She loved to attend Pool League, where she was the "#1 cheerleader" for Pete.

Linda was preceded in death by; her husband, Pete Araujo on May 19, 2016; aunt, Frieda Mohrman; sister, Carol Sorenson; brothers-in-law: Cruz Araujo, Jr. and Richard (Dick) Araujo; and nephews: Eddie Sorenson and Shane Little.

She leaves to celebrate her life; her sons: Joe Araujo of Holdrege, Richard Araujo and girlfriend, Laura Ward of Minden, Nebraska and Shane Araujo and wife, Michelle of Oxford; her daughters: Dana Johnson and husband, Gene of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Joy Voet and her husband, Larry of Ravenna, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Rodney Hilker and wife, Beverly of Arapahoe, Nebraska; sister, Debbie Little of Washington state; brother-in-law: Marcus Araujo and wife, Sharon of Lexington; sisters-in-law: Susie Engel and husband, Charles of Grand Island, Nebraska and Mary Araujo of Lexington; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford.

A memorial has been established in Linda's honor and will be designated at a later date.
