Linda M. Baker

A Celebration of Life for Linda M. Baker will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the North Park Assembly Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Steinbach officiating.

Linda Mae Baker, 74 years of age, of Holdrege, died, on August 4, 2021, at the Christian Homes Care Center in Holdrege.  Linda was born in Kearney, Nebraska on September 10, 1946, and her parents were Everett and Opal (Burkey) Schleeter. She was the eldest of two children.  She received her primary education and graduated from Bertrand Public School, in Bertrand, Nebraska with the class of 1964.

Linda worked several places and moved many times but she truly cared for the clients when she worked for Mosaic in Axtell.

Linda loved camping and fishing mainly at Harlan County Lake and Johnson Lake. She enjoyed tending to her plants, following the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and playing games.  Usually, she was playing Words With Friends or board games and she was quite competitive; winning most of the time. There was never a dull moment when she was around.  Linda was philanthropic and would help out when others were in need.

Linda will be remembered for her contagious laugh, but she also had an orneriness about her. She truly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Linda was preceded in death by: her parents; one daughter Sonya Wilder, her granddaughter, Janessa Young; and one grandson, Dylan Skeen.

Linda is survived by her daughters: Robin Renteria of Holdrege; Monica Young of Holdrege; grandchildren: Trevor and his wife, Tabitha; Krystin; Tyler; Tatiana; Corey; Kaelee; Preston; Marissa; Joshua; Austin; Analyssa; Junior; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, James "Jim" Schleeter and his wife, Helen of Longmont, Colorado; her lifelong friend John Dike of Holdrege; a niece and a nephew, other relatives and friends.

A memorial book signing will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established in Linda's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
