Linda K. Davey

A Funeral Service for Linda Davey will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Murray Jones officiating.  Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Linda Kay Davey, 74 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.  Linda was born April 22, 1951, in Frankfort, Kansas, the eldest of three children born to Alvin and Ermal (Peterson) Davey. She received her education from Rockwell City Public Schools, in Iowa, graduating with the class of 1969. She pursued higher education from Morning Side College, attaining a Bachelor's Degree in Library Sciences.

Following her education, she began working as a school Librarian in Taylor, Nebraska, and then Wilsonville, Nebraska. Linda enjoyed being involved with the Drama clubs while in education.  Linda then began working at the Holdrege Area Public Library in 1989, where she oversaw the front desk staff and especially enjoyed being active with the summer reading program.  She had a great sense of humor, a creative side and also had a knack for creating and performing skits.  She and close friend, Cindy would then act out the skits for area schools.  Linda found great joy in volunteering at Holdrege Elementary School, reading to and with the 2nd grade classes.  Due to her health, Linda retired in March 2020.

Linda enjoyed reading, playing card games, and watching movies and TV shows.  She enjoyed traveling, especially in her younger years.   She was social and enjoyed spending time with her friends and attending musicals, of her elementary students or professionals.  She attended Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege and helped teach Sunday school and helped in the church nursery.

Linda enjoyed keeping in touch with her nieces and nephews via phone calls and photos.  She was grateful of the local family she became part too.  The Cindy Gitt family and Mike Gitt family have many fond memories of "Aunt Linda", at many holiday and family gatherings.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves to celebrate her life, her siblings:  Jan Hamrick of Georgetown, Kentucky; and Russell Davey of Ankeny, Iowa; nieces and nephews:  Jill Rhodes and husband, Nick; Jennifer Hamrick; Jason Hamrick and wife, Brandie; and Thomas Davey; and great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established in Linda's honor and kindly suggested to Holdrege Area Public Library.
