A Memorial service for Linda J. Peterson will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, Nebraska with Pastor Daren Popple, officiating. A private inurnment will be held.
Linda Joyce Peterson, 81 years of age, of Funk, died on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Holdrege Memorial Homes, following a brief battle with cancer. Linda was born on January 26, 1943, in Orleans, Nebraska, the fifth of six children born to George and Clara Bell (Coleman) Schescke.
She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Huntley, Nebraska, where she also attended Sunday school. Linda received her education from Huntley Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1961.
On September 26, 1964, Linda was united in marriage to George Peterson at the Huntley Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Funk and this union was blessed with three children: Jeffrey, James, and Julie. Together the family enjoyed visiting relatives, working on puzzles, fishing at North Park in Holdrege, yardwork and gardening.
Linda enjoyed making quilts, reading, yardwork, her flower garden and gardening. She will be remembered for her Angel Food Cake. She was a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church, where she was active with Ladies Circle, mission work and the quilting guild.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Delmar Schescke, William "Billy" Schescke, and Donald "Donnie" Schescke; brothers-in-law, Robert "Bob" Langenberg; and Charles "Charlie" White; two sisters-in-law: Eleanor (Peterson) Dudley and husband, Cecil; and Virginia Peterson.
Linda is survived by, her husband, George Peterson of Funk; three children: Jeff Peterson of Hutchinson, Kansas; James Peterson and his wife, Kristine of Wahoo, Nebraska; and Julie Peterson-Shea and her husband, Randie of Phillipsburg, Kansas;
ten grandchildren: Gabrian (Kylie), Gareth, Gavyn, Rheanna, and Aryssa Peterson-Shea; Cole, Tate, and Paige Peterson; and Sarah and Matthew Peterson; one great-granddaughter: Kairinthia; two sisters: Erma Langenberg of Holdrege; and Mary White, (formerly of Naponee, Nebraska) of the Denver, Colorado area; four brothers-in-law: Lawrence Peterson of Holdrege; Donald Peterson and wife, Chris of North Bend, Nebraska; Daniel Peterson of Holdrege; and Kenny Peterson and wife, Kathy of Holdrege; one sister-in-law: Doris Waggoner and husband, Donald of Minnesota; and extended family members.
A Memorial Book Signing will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
