Memorial Graveside Services for Lloyd William "Bill" Jackson will be conducted from the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Tom Thompson, officiating.
Lloyd William "Bill" Jackson, 89 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska (formerly of Loomis, Nebraska) passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Bill was born April 11, 1921 at Denver, Colorado, the youngest of two sons born to Andrew and Lottie Jackson. The family made their home in Loomis, where Bill received his education from Loomis Public Schools.
Following his education, Bill went to work for the Burlington and Quincy Railroad as a section laborer. He worked on stations on lines west of the Missouri River and between Omaha and Kansas City. He was injured on the job, forcing him to retire early. He returned home to Loomis, where he ran the pool hall and assisted with different activities at the school.
Bill loved to garden, tend to his yard, play bingo and in later years enjoyed painting. He will be remembered for his kind heart, sharp wit and sense of humor.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Robert W. Jackson; and sister-in-law, Peggy J. Jackson.
He leaves to mourn his passing his nieces: Vicki Satta of Denver, CO and Jo Allen Gold and her husband, Michael of Charleston, South Carolina; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
