Funeral Services for Lois J. Beach will be conducted on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford, Nebraska with the Reverend Dale Hedstrom, officiating. Interment will be held in the Oxford Cemetery.
Lois Jean Beach, 78 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford), passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. She was born July 11, 1931 at Hildreth, Nebraska, the eldest of four children to Ira F. and Rixtie Ann (DeRiese) Hunt. Lois grew up on various farms in Franklin County and received her primary education in Franklin County at the Sunny Ridge District #70 School and then graduated from Edison High School at Edison, Nebraska with the class of 1948.
Following her education, Lois was employed by Swanson's in Oxford. On July 26, 1951, Lois was united in marriage to Ray L. Beach and to this union two children were born: Arden Ray and Silver Jean. The family made their home in Oxford, where Lois focused on her family and in later years she was employed by Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege until her retirement in 1989. On October 1, 1988 she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray. Lois continued to reside in Oxford until 2007, when her health began to fail and she made her home at the Holdrege Memorial Homes.
She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford, where she was active with the women's ministries and also volunteered at the Thrift Store and the Granada Theater in Oxford.
Lois' life was centered on her family, especially the time spent with Justin and Coral.
Besides her parents and husband, Ray, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Randy Russell; sister-in-law, Betty Hunt and brothers-in-law: Clyde Luce, Merle Beach and his wife, Mary, and Arden Beach.
Lois leaves to mourn her passing her two children: Arden Beach and his wife, Shawna and Silver Beach and her special friend, Jay Spangrud all of Oxford; step-daughter, Robin Russell and her husband, Raymond of Lawrence, Kansas; five grandchildren: Justin Fries and his special friend, Chelsea Peden and Coral Fries all of Oxford, Casey Carpenter and Jackie Carpenter both of Hastings, Nebraska, Rocky Russell of Lawrence, Kansas; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Robert Hunt and his wife, Delores of Ravenna, Nebraska and Willis Hunt of Hastings; one sister, Viola Luce of Pleasanton, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Lola Beach of Olympia, Washington and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford.
A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
