Lois J Clayton

Graveside Services for Lois J. Clayton will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Highland Cemetery at Bertrand, Nebraska with Reverend Jean Clayton, officiating.

Lois Joan Clayton, 80 years of age, of Axtell, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.  Lois was born May 23, 1938 on the family farm, south of Bertrand in Gosper County, Nebraska, the second of three children of Thomas A. and Myrtle (Paulsen) Clayton.  She was dedicated as an infant at the Frank Naylor Church, south of Bertrand.  The family made their home on a farm southwest of Bertrand.

Even though Lois was born with many challenges in life, she persevered with the Lord's help and was a blessing to her family.  She loved looking at magazines, and was amazed by the pictures.  She had a special place in her heart for little animals, especially kittens; and growing up Lois always enjoyed the babies in the family as they were born.

In 1967, she moved with her parents to Loomis, Nebraska.  Later in years, when her mother's health began to fail, Lois moved to Axtell, and began to make her home at Mosaic at Bethphage Village.  While at Mosaic, Lois enjoyed attending services at Zion Lutheran on campus, and made many friendship bonds with her caregivers and fellow residents.

Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by a niece, Jody (Peterson) Talkington; and several aunts and uncles.

She leaves to celebrate her life; her sister, Marilyn Peterson and her husband, Ronald; her brother, James Clayton and his wife, Jean all of Holdrege; an uncle, John Paulsen of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Lois' honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
