A Memorial Service for Lois A. Holen will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Westmark Evangelical Free Church at rural Loomis, Nebraska, with Pastor Noah Tyler officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Sandstrom Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Lois A Holen, 83 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Christian Homes Care Community, Holdrege. Lois was born on August 5, 1941, in Cozad, Nebraska, the last of eight children born to Alfred and Pearl (Jensen) Holt.  She received her education from Holdrege High School, graduating with the class of 1959.

She then pursued higher education and took classes to become a Dental Assistant.  Lois worked as an assistant while Don attended classes at the University of Nebraska.

In November 1959, she was united in marriage to Don Holen at Holcomb Evangelical Free Church in rural Phelps County and to this union, the couple was blessed with three sons: Todd, Brad, and Kurt. The family made their home on a farm south of Smithfield, where they engaged in farming while Lois also worked for the dental office in Bertrand.

Lois was a faithful member of Westmark Evangelical Free Church, where she served in many capacities. She also served on the national board of Free Church Women's Ministries (FCWM).

Lois loved hosting her family and friends for holidays and special occasions. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and following her children's and now grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers: Loyd Holt and his wife, Virginia; Lee Holt and wife, Doris; Alan Holt; and Paul Holt and his wife, Judy; three sisters: Loree Larsen and her husband, Harold; Goldie Stapp and her husband, Roy; and Judy Arnold and her husband, Jerry; and brothers-in-law: Dick Jurgens and Jim Ressegieu.

Lois leaves to celebrate her life, her husband, Don Holen of Holdrege; three sons: Todd Holen and his wife, Shelly of Grand Island, Nebraska; Brad Holen and his wife, Jodi of Omaha, Nebraska; and Kurt Holen and his wife, Richele of Johnson Lake; eight grandchildren: Nathan (Tabitha) Holen of Garner, North Carolina, and their son, Austin; Derek (Stephanie) Holen of Salina, Kansas, and their sons, Noah, Levi, and Gavin; Nicole (Joey) Snyder of Grand Island, Nebraska, and their children: Ady, Parker, Conner, Gracelyn, Spencer and Ava; Brittany (James) Amenitsch of Chicago, Illinois; Morgan Holen of Lincoln, Nebraska; Jared (Michaela) Holen of Bertrand, and their children, Miley, Lily and Maverick; Jason (Kesli) Holen of Bertrand and their son, Nicolas; and Jordan (McKayla) Holen of Bertrand, and their daughter, Harper; in-laws: Lois Jurgens of Holdrege; Karen Ressegieu of Omaha; Chuck and Cynthia Copeland of Omaha; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial book signing will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Lois' honor and kindly suggested to Westmark Evangelical Free Church or Gideon's International.
