Memorial Mass for Lois R. Kingsley was held at the St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Karen Watson officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Lois Roberta Kingsley, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at her home in Holdrege. She was born September 3, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, within minutes of her twin sister, Barbara, born to Richard Samson and Florence (Sherman) Norval. At a young age, her family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. She received her education from Lincoln High School, graduating with the Class of 1948. She pursued higher education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and then later in 1979, at the age of 49, she finished her college education at Kearney State College earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education.

While attending UNL she met and eventually married H. S. "Tom" Kingsley, Jr. on June 30, 1951. To this union four children were born: H. S. "Tim," David, Liz and Nancy. The family made their home in Holdrege.

Lois was a member of the St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church and the Kappa Delta Sorority. She enjoyed being an active member of the Prairie Players, the Garden Club, the Republican's Women's Club, a docent at MONA, and a former Cub Scout leader. She was a sports enthusiast, often rooting for the under-dog. She enjoyed visiting residents at Memorial Homes, gardening, traveling, gambling, dancing, bowling, playing tennis and ping pong, earning the title of Country Club Ping Pong Champion. She also enjoyed entertaining guests, throwing dinner parties, fishing and spending time at her lake home on Plum Creek where she was awarded a Master Angler Award.

Besides her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her sisters: Patricia Rocke and Barbara Wiltfang; and brother-in-law, Lanny Kingsley.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Tom of Holdrege: two sons: H. S. "Tim" Kingsley, III and his wife, Joyce of Wilcox, David Kingsley and his wife Cathie of Kearney; two daughters: Liz Mattson and her husband, Larry "Rudy" of Funk, Nebraska, Nancy Oertle and her husband, Jim of Axtell, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren: Christina Mattson of Lincoln, Nicki Mattson of Funk, Samantha Oertle of Casper, Wyoming, Kyle Oertle of Lincoln, John, Jake, Allie and Christopher Kingsley of Kearney; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
