Memorial Services for Lona D. Stolz will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. officiating. Inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Naponee Cemetery in Naponee, Nebraska.
Lona Darlene Stolz, 80 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege, surrounded by her family. Lona was born June 28, 1937 in Littleton, Colorado to Clayton and Alda (Linke) Bogue. She grew up on a ranch, south of Newport, Nebraska and attended a nearby rural school. She attended high school in Bassett, Nebraska, graduating from Rock County High School in 1954.
Lona met her husband-to-be in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Bob and Lona moved to Holdrege in 1956 and were married on June 3, 1956 at the First United Methodist Church in Alma, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Holdrege where they enjoyed life together and grew a family of five: three daughters and two sons, who all grew up in Holdrege. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the most important parts of her life.
Lona worked various jobs including: Brewster Medical Clinic as a lab tech, bookkeeping at the Holdrege Country Club, The Connection in-bound call center in Holdrege and managing the family owned camp ground in Gothenburg, Nebraska. In her free time, she enjoyed playing golf and Bridge, and cooking for her family.
Lona had a passion for all sports! She enjoyed taking her children to all of their events and attending sporting events for her grandchildren. She had a special passion for Husker Football!! GBR!!
Lona was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Shirley Farris and Roberta Wells.
Survivors include: her husband, Bob Stolz of Holdrege; daughter, Roxanne Reeder and her husband, Marv of Holdrege; son, Brent Stolz and his wife, Tricia of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Cheryl Meyers and her husband, David of Seattle, Washington; son, Brad Stolz of Holdrege; daughter, Tara Rowe and her husband, Charles of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren: Pamela and Jeremy Hansen, with great-grandchildren, Jayce and Karly Hansen, of Bertrand, Nebraska; Adam Reeder of Lincoln, Nebraska; Alex, Michael, Andrew, and Suzie Stolz of Omaha; Jordan Stolz of Kearney, Nebraska; Erika Stolz with great-grandchild, Sayler Rome of Kearney; and Kennedy Stolz of Holdrege; along with beloved nieces and many close friends and neighbors.
Memorial Book Signing will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Lona's honor and kindly suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Holdrege.
