A Funeral Service for Lonnie Rohde will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Westmark Evangelical Free Church, rural Loomis, Nebraska, with Pastor Noah Tyler officiating.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Overton Cemetery, Overton, Nebraska.
Lonnie Lee Rohde, 79 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, Overton, Nebraska, and Johnson Lake, Nebraska, died on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Christian Homes Care Community, Holdrege. Lonnie was born on July 9, 1945, in Kearney, Nebraska, the eldest of three children, born to Homer and Aileen (Loffer) Rohde. He attended Eddyville Public Schools and graduated from Eddyville High School with the class of 1963.
Following his education, Lonnie began farming with his father and brother. A few years later, he began farming on his own near Eddyville and later Ansley.
On September 4, 1965, Lonnie was united in marriage to Connie Sleicher at the Eddyville United Brethren Church and to this union; they were blessed with two children: Kelly and Kory. The family made their home in Overton, where Lonnie began working for Countryside Land & Cattle. He worked for the COOP in Overton, in sales and as a floater operator in the mid 1970s and then was employed for Bowie Fertilizer in Overton, starting in 2001, until his retirement in June of 2024.
The couple enjoyed traveling with their friends and family and later hosting friends and family at their Johnson Lake Home. Lonnie enjoyed fishing, supporting his children's teams, later his grandchildren's activities, and supporting the Overton Eagles. Lonnie was named the Overton Student Council Booster of the Year 2021-2022.
He was a member of Westmark Evangelical Free Church. Lonnie was a generous man and always enjoyed handing out candy at church and at games.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tony Rohde; his wife, Connie in 2021; a sister, Sue Moomey in 2022; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lee and Jeanne Sleicher; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law: James and Sandra Sleicher.
Lonnie is survived by his children: Kelly Buck and her husband, Jerry of Lexington, Nebraska; and Kory Rohde and his wife, Angel of Wallace, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Emily Hodgson and her husband, Joel of Lexington; Abbey McConville and her husband, Connor of Indianola, Nebraska; and Tyler Buck and his wife, Maddy of Lincoln, Nebraska; three great-granddaughters: Jada and Joslyn Hodgson; and Preslee McConville; a brother-in-law, Tim Moomey of Holdrege; along with many extended relatives and many friends.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in Lonnie's honor and kindly suggested to Westmark Evangelical Free Church or the Collage Center in Kearney.
