Celebration of Life for LoRee Broeker will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Jenkins officiating. A private family burial will be held prior to the service at the Carter Cemetery in rural Orleans, Nebraska.
LoRee A Broeker, 94 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Orleans, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. LoRee was born October 19, 1924 near Otis, Colorado, in Washington County to Louis and Verna (Cook) Dressel. At the age of three, her parents moved to Alma, Nebraska. LoRee graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1942. Following her education, LoRee taught for two years at Carter District #35 and one year at District #4 rural school.
On May 17, 1945, LoRee was united in marriage to Kenneth "Bud" Broeker in Phillipsburg, Kansas. They lived on different farms in the Carter Community until 1976 when they moved to Oxford. LoRee worked for the Oxford Cheese Company; Mid Nebraska; and several other businesses in Oxford.
LoRee was a member of the Oxford First Baptist Church and the Carter Cheer Extension Club, for many years. Her family was her main interest in life, as well as her church and community friends.
LoRee was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; granddaughter, Cassandra Ann Broeker; brother, Robert Dressel; brothers-in-law: Oral Broeker and wife, Pearl; Wallace Broeker and wife, Ortha; and Robert Broeker; sisters-in-law: Marjorie Dyas and husband, Dick; Bernice McQuiston and husband, Rolland; and Carla Ann Freeburg and her husband, Laval.
She leaves to celebrate her life; her sons: Leslie Broeker and his wife, Mary Ann of Oxford; and Glen Broeker and his wife, Sharalee of Oxford; four grandchildren: Margaret Folkers and her husband, Jeff of Reno, Nevada; Yancy Broeker and his wife, Brenda of Lincoln, Nebraska; Leah Norman and her husband, Bill of Oxford; and Steven and Shelly Broeker of Oxford; nine great-grandchildren: Joshua, Jacob, Preston, Logan, Ali, Tre, Tia, Callie, and Cole; one great-great-granddaughter, Masyn LoRee; sisters-in-law: Mary Jo Dressel of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Phyllis Thulin of Beaver City, Nebraska; Ardis Proctor and her husband, Carl of Oxford; Janice Maaske and her husband, Darrel of Kearney, Nebraska; and Donna Dallman and her husband, Myron of Hildreth, Nebraska; along with extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford, Nebraska with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in LoRee's honor and kindly suggested to the First Baptist Church in Oxford.
