Lorene J "Blondie" Jackson

Memorial services for LoRene J. (Blondie) Jackson will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Darren Theesen officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

LoRene June (Blondie) Jackson, 83 years of age, of Holdrege, (formerly of Overton, Nebraska) passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege with family and friends at her bedside after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Blondie was born on October 30, 1933 at her home in Naponee, Nebraska. She was the only child born to Clifford Harry and Fern Olga (Brown) Graf. Her mother died six days after her birth. Her father moved to Iowa and was later drafted into the Army. Blondie was raised by her grandmother, Olga Brown in Franklin, where she attended school through the eighth grade. After her grandmother passed away she lived with her Aunt Helena (Brown) Pohlenz.

On April 12, 1952 she married Doyt Henry Jackson at Red Cloud, Nebraska. To this union three sons were born: Rick, Mike, and Dwight. Doyt and Blondie enjoyed 32 years together camping, fishing, and attending many local dances. She spent her married years dedicated to raising her family. In her later years, she was employed as a cook by Kirk's Restaurant, Tri Valley Health Systems and the Grand Generation Center in Lexington. In 2009, Blondie move to Holdrege to live near her son, Rick and his wife, Cindy. She resided at Sunrise View until October 14, 2016, when she moved to Christian Homes. Blondie was fun-loving, and formed many lasting friendships over her lifetime.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyt in 1985; son, Dwight in 1996; and grandson, Gregory in 2009.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her sons: Rick Jackson and his wife, Cindy of Holdrege; and Mike Jackson of Holdrege; grandchildren: Brian Jackson and wife, Sheila of Greenville, North Carolina (and their children: Katie and Tucker); Kristie Jackson of Kearney (and her children: Justin, Sean and Alex); Brad Jackson and wife, Tara of Holdrege (and their children: Brendon, Cayleigh, Jordan and Beau); Tommy Jackson and wife, Shannon of Pratt, Kansas (and their children: Scarlette and Conner); Lacey Littrel and husband, Shawn of Wichita, Kansas (and their children: Rev, Rylan, Kymbur and LaRue); and Stephanie Jackson of Jasper, Missouri; great-great granddaughter, Mia Jackson of Kearney; daughter-in-law, Tammy Jackson-Nolan of Parsons, Kansas; half-sisters: MarJean West and husband, Jim of Mesa, Arizona and Sharon Danek of Terra Haute, Indiana; half-brother, Craig Graf of Anamosa, Iowa; aunt, Irene Olson of Prescott Valley, Arizona; her lifelong friend, Darlene Graf of Holdrege; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

There will be no visitation, the family is honoring her wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Blondie's honor and will be designated at a later date.
