Loretta Pearl Reiss Triplett, 91 years of age, of Minden, Nebraska, formerly of Wilcox, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Bethany Home in Minden. Loretta was born December 30, 1924, three miles south of Wilcox, in Franklin County, Nebraska, the fifth of seven children born to Henry "Hank" and Minnie Charlotte (Titkemeier) Heidemann. As an infant, Loretta was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church and was later confirmed there in 1938. Loretta attended St. John's Parochial School through the 6th grade and then furthered her education at Wilcox High School, graduating with the class of 1942.
On November 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Lawrence E. Reiss at the Phillips County Courthouse in Phillipsburg, Kansas. To this union two sons were born: Gary Allen and Randy Lee. They made their home West of Wilcox, on a farm South of Sacramento, Nebraska. She loved living on the farm and helping out with whatever was needed. Later in life, she and Lawrence moved to a home in Wilcox.
Loretta was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was active in LWML. In her younger years, she enjoyed being a member of the Lake Friendship Club, the Farmerette Club and traveling with her husband Lawrence, while he served as District Governor for the Lion's Club.
She loved to spend time in the kitchen. Her famous "carrots with cheese casserole" has been passed down two generations and is a staple at all family gatherings. She was an excellent gardener and spent a lot of time tending to her beautiful flowers and getting rid of the dreaded weeds. She worked part-time for many years cleaning houses. Everything in her house was always "neat as a pin" and she took great pride in keeping it that way. Loretta loved to spend time studying her family history and sharing many memories of her childhood growing up during the Great Depression.
Loretta loved music and dancing. She also loved to read and crochet. Her favorite TV show was, Dancing with the Stars and she never missed an episode.
She had a very strong faith and enjoyed listening to the Lutheran Hour on her radio every Sunday morning, and spending time studying her Bible and daily devotions. Spending time with her family and grandchildren brought her immense joy. She was a loyal friend to many and loved to visit with all of them frequently. Her family often joked that "she knew everybody."
In 2003, Loretta was united in marriage to Leland Triplett of Kearney. He died in 2010.
Loretta was preceded in death by: a son in infancy in 1946; her husband, Lawrence Reiss in 1998; a grandson, Ryan Covey in 1994; a brother, Willis Heidemann and his wife, DeLores; sisters: Edna Ziebarth and her husband, August, Lydia Schepler and her husband, Ernest, Eleanor Johnson and her husband, James, Luella Norman and her husband, George; and brother-in-law Lamoyne Post.
