Lucille A. Ohlson, 82 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Memorial Graveside Services will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Jean Clayton officiating.
She was born August 4, 1929, the third of four children born to Gottlieb and Sophia (Ogorzolka) Clouse at Bartley, Nebraska. She attended school at Bartley.
On November 6, 1948, she was united in marriage to Harold D. Ohlson (also of Bartley), and while living in Crete, Nebraska two daughters were born: Marilyn and Cheryl. In 1956, the family moved to Stratton, Nebraska, where they owned and operated a bar and grill. When they were divorced in 1968, Lucille and the girls moved to Holdrege, where she began working at Becton-Dickinson until her retirement in 1993.
Lucille enjoyed her work, loved shopping and enjoyed being on-the-go. She always kept a positive attitude facing her health problems head-on, but had to give up her independent living in 2009 and began to make her home at Holdrege Memorial Homes due to her failing health.
She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband and friend, Harold Ohlson; brothers: Harold Clouse and John Clouse; and a sister, Helen Solberg.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her daughters: Cheryl Carbaugh and Marilyn Layton, and her husband, Mike all of Holdrege; five grandchildren: Angela Jewitt and her husband, Allen of Lincoln, Nebraska, Tanya Harvey and her husband, Tim of Lincoln, Chris Carbaugh and his wife, Drew of Holdrege, Jeremy Carbaugh and his partner, Jennifer of Lincoln, Mark Layton and his companion, Charlene of Fort Collins, Colorado; six great-grandchildren: Nyleigh Carbaugh, Paisley Harvey, Madison Jewitt, Chloe Jewitt, Jaydon Carbaugh and Cain Carbaugh; two step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the family in her memory for distribution at a later date to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
Peace and love to her memory, she will be missed.
There will be no visitation.
