A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Lynn C. Halvorson will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. officiating.  Inurnment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege with Military Honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 of Holdrege and the U.S. Army Funeral Honors Team.

Mr. Lynn Curtis Halvorson, 85 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away, on October 6, 2021, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Lynn was born on January 18, 1936 in Lewistown, Montana, the youngest of two sons, born to Lynn C. and Elmira (Jenkins) Halvorson. He attended Fergus County Schools in Montana and graduated from the Fergus County High School with the class of 1954.

On October 27, 1954, Lynn enlisted into the United States Army.  He served during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged on September 3, 1957. Following his discharge, he moved to Denver, Colorado and attended Denver University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in 1961.

On April 19, 1962, Lynn was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lynn Loebe in Raton, New Mexico. This union was blessed with two children: Sue and Craig.  The family made their home in Holdrege, where the couple were the owners and operators of the Gambles Store. He later began his employment with Kinder Morgan as a salesman until his retirement.

Lynn was a hard worker and always made sure his family was provided for.  He enjoyed camping and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan. Lynn loved to tell corny jokes and listen to showtunes, but at the end of the day he just wanted to be around people, Lynn never met a stranger.

Lynn was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege where he served as a Deacon.

Besides his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by, his brother, Gaylord Halvorson and his wife, Beverly; and his in-laws, Bill and Doris Loebe.

Lynn is survived by; his wife, Mrs. Lynn Halvorson; daughter, Sue Callahan and her husband, Bill of Hudson, Massachusetts; and son, Craig Halvorson and his wife, Sayeh Beheshti of San Juan Capistrano, California; three grandchildren: Geoffery Halvorson and his wife, Taylor of Schofield, Hawaii; Matthew Halvorson of San Francisco, California; and Hazel Halvorson of Chino, California; two great-grandchildren: Hudson and Isla Halvorson; sister-in-law, Carol Loebe of Lead, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family is honoring Lynn's wish for cremation, there will be no visitation or memorial book signing.

A memorial has been established in Lynn's honor, and kindly suggested to the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege.
