Margaret Izetta (Borg) Reiner, 98 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. Margaret was born on January 20, 1916 on the family farm twelve miles northeast of Holdrege in Phelps County, Nebraska to Edgar and Verna (Moore) Borg. One of five children, she was raised on the family farm northeast of Holdrege.  Margaret graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1934 and then pursued higher education at the University Of Nebraska College Of Nursing, graduating in 1937.  She worked as a Registered Nurse in Omaha, serving as supervisor of surgery at Methodist Hospital from 1939-1942.

On June 4, 1941, she united in marriage to Walter Reiner, MD.   Dr. Reiner's service in the United States Army took them out of Nebraska for several years and during that time, Margaret taught Red Cross courses.  After the Reiner's moved to Holdrege in 1945, Margaret worked full-time raising their four children.  In 1968, she returned to her nursing career and accepted a position at Phelps Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a surgical nurse until her retirement in 1990.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Reiner, MD; daughter, Margaret Anne Monk; infant great-granddaughter, Emily Girard;  three brothers: Warren Borg, Kenneth Borg, and Daryl Borg;  and one sister, La Donna Griffee.

She is survived by her three children: Mary Ellen Krobot (Charles) of Omaha, Robert Reiner (Diane) of Brooklyn Center, MN, and Richard Reiner, MD (Lori) of Holdrege; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members.

Private Family Inurnment for Margaret Reiner will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska at a later date.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Margaret's wish for cremation.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Margaret's honor and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Memorial Homes Library Fund, the Nebraska Prairie Museum or donor's choice.
