Margaruite J. Brand

A funeral service for Margaruite J. Brand will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Mike Szekley officiating. Interment will follow at the Overton Cemetery in Overton, Nebraska.

Margaruite Janelle Brand, 73 years of age, of Loomis, Nebraska, formerly of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away, on March 7, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska. Margaruite was born in Lexington, Nebraska, on March 21, 1951, the youngest of three children, born to Frederick "Fritz" and Velma (Brown) Lammers. She received her education from Overton Public School and graduated with the class of 1969.

In 1972, Margaruite Lammers married Dennis Douglass, and to this union, three children were born: Crystal, Kevrin, and JaWayne. The marriage later ended in divorce. On July 16, 1994, Margaruite was united in marriage to Dick Brand at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney. She had numerous jobs throughout her lifetime, but her highlight was caring for the children at her in-home daycare and later at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege.

Margaruite had a talent for crafting, especially painting and sewing. She enjoyed square dancing and camping with the Central RV Dancers. Dick and Margaruite took several trips to square dance and, for the last nine years, were able to travel south for the winter. She liked to make stops at antique shops while on vacation.

Margaruite was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Delmer and Jean Brand; one son, Kevrin Douglass; two grandsons: Clayton Herron; and Jacob Kimberly; her brother, Melvin Lammers; her sister, Martha Honeywell; and one brother-in-law, Garry Teghtmeyer.

Margaruite is survived by her husband of 30 years, Dick Brand of Loomis;

children: Crystal Herron and her husband, Todd of Rock Port, Missouri; JaWayne Douglass of Hastings, Nebraska; Brad and Tracy Kimberly of Holdrege; Scott Brand and his wife, Valeria of Israel; Stacey Brand and his significant other, Jessica Estes of Lincoln, Nebraska; nine grandchildren: RyAnne (Stephen); Corwyn; Brentyn; Jaymes; Jaimie (Timothy); Michael; Allen; Ryan (Sarah); Anastasia; four great-grandchildren: Ryker; Kitt; Josie; Weylin; sisters-in-law: Peggy Teghtmeyer; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

Memorials in Margaruite's honor are suggested to the family for a later designation.
