Marge Joan Louise Bandt, 85 years of age, of Alma, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society Colonial Villa in Alma. Marge was born May 4, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest of seven children born to Serafino and Angela (DiVito) Marcangelo. She received her education and graduated in Detroit, Michigan with class of 1947.
On November 15, 1952, Marge was united in marriage to Harold L. Bandt. The couple exchanged vows in St. Paul, Nebraska. To this union two children were born: Penny and Jerald. The family made their home south of Wolbach, Nebraska and engaged in farming. Later, the family moved to Michigan where they managed restaurants. The family moved to Sioux City, Iowa and managed the Hole in One donut shop for a short time. In 1964 the family moved to Patterson Harbor where Marge and Harold managed the Patterson Harbor Cafe. In 1971, Marge began working as a sales clerk at the Ben Franklin Store in Alma until her retirement in 1989. In 2013, Marge began to make her home at the Colonial Villa.
Marge was a serious card player and enjoyed playing Bingo at the Colonial Villa. Marge enjoyed being around people and helping them. She loved music and at the age of three played the piano by ear. Being the youngest of seven children, she and her siblings enjoyed harmonizing and singing, serenading the Italian neighborhood as they did the supper dishes. Marge was a very loving and supporting mother, grandmother and friend. She never stopped helping others, even at the Colonial Villa.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold in 1991; and brothers and sisters and their spouses. She leaves to mourn her passing; her loving and devoted children: Jerald and his wife, Nancy of Alma, Nebraska and Penny Rhodig and her husband, Dan of Republican City, Nebraska; two grandchildren: Jonny Rhodig and his wife, Katie, of Littleton, Colorado and Jodi Richey and her husband, Tom of Norfolk, Nebraska; sister, Delores Bandt of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, and many friends at the Villa.
There will be no Visitation or Memorial Book Signing as the family is honoring Marge's wish for cremation. A memorial has been established in Marge's honor and kindly suggested to the Scholarship Fund at the Good Samaritan Society Colonial Villa.
