Memorial Services for Margery Ann Abrahamson will be held on Monday, January 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Dr. Cathi Braasch, STS officiating. Private family burial will be held prior the service at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.
Margery Ann Abrahamson, 85 years of age, of rural Funk, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. Margery was born on March 5, 1931 in Holdrege, the eldest of three children born to Vincent and Frances (Harder) Youngquist. She was baptized June 20, 1931 by Pastor C.S. Odell and confirmed October 21, 1945 at Bethel Lutheran Church.
She attended Little Giant Country School, District #34 and Rose Hill School, District #68 in Phelps County and graduated from the 8th grade on May 23, 1944 and later from Holdrege High School with the class of 1948. She pursued higher education at Kearney State – Summer School and taught for four years at the Avondale School, District #30 in Phelps County.
On November 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to Roger Abrahamson and to this union four daughters were born: Joyce, Janice, Harriet and Wendy. Margery enjoyed raising her girls and helping on the farm.
As a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, she attended Luther League, taught Sunday school and Bible School, served on the church council and anniversary committees and served in many women's organizations of the church.
Margery enjoyed many years with the Friendship Circle of Funk, Sommer Set and Pitch Clubs and served many years on the Election Canvassing Board of Phelps County. She loved the farm, especially her chickens and enjoyed canning, gardening, reading, poetry, music, watching baseball and football and all of her daughter's and grandchildren's sporting events and school programs.
Besides her parents; Margery is preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann, Peace to her Memory; husband, Roger in 2009; sister, Marlene Hansen; sister-in-law, Violet Grove and husband, Dale; and brother-in-law, Paul Abrahamson.
She leaves to celebrate her life; her daughters: Janice Abrahamson of Axtell, Nebraska, Harriet Reese and her husband, Tim and Wendy Skallberg and her husband, John both of Holdrege; four grandchildren: Brent and Jared Reese and Jason and Jody Skallberg; brother, Rodney Youngquist and his wife, Donna of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Carroll Hansen of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Laurene Abrahamson of Holdrege; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Margery's honor and kindly suggested to the Funk Fire & Rescue Squad or Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege.
