Funeral Services for Marguerite L. Massey will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Dale Lambert, officiating. Interment will be in the Orleans Cemetery at Orleans, Nebraska.
Marguerite Louise Massey, 83 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Holbrook, Nebraska) passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Marguerite was born March 10, 1927 in rural Harlan County, north of Stamford, Nebraska, the daughter of Albert H. and Anna W. (Kuhlmann) Stoelting. She received her primary education from the Carter District School for a year and then District #4 in Harlan County through the eighth grade. Marguerite then graduated from Stamford High School with the class of 1945. She then pursued higher education from Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska for business classes.
Following her education, Marguerite cared for her mother as her health was failing. She was then united in marriage to Raymond Dale Massey on July 25, 1948 at Naponee, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Orleans and Republican City before moving to Holbrook, Nebraska in the early 1950's. While in Holbrook, Raymond and Marguerite opened and operated the Northside Garage. Marguerite focused on the bookkeeping for business and cared for their home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond on August 5, 2004.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and gardening.
Besides her husband, Raymond, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gordon Stoelting and his wife, Jean; brothers-in-law: Arthur E. Hunt and Howard Lee Massey; and a niece, Brenda Koch.
Marguerite leaves to mourn her passing her brothers-in-law: Floyd Massey and his wife, Sally of Holdrege and Robert Massey and his wife, Wanda of Axtell, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Clara Mae Hunt of Minden, Nebraska and Donna Johnson of Hastings, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
