Marie Elizabeth Beiriger, 96 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Marie was born November 12, 1911 at Okarche, Oklahoma, the eldest of three children born to William and Louise (Maschino) Sigl. She received her education at Okarche.

Following her education she was united in marriage to Lavern Beiriger on January 9, 1940 in Okarche and the couple were blessed with four children: Mary, Rose, Patricia and William. They made their home on a farm near Loomis, Nebraska and later in years moved to a farm north of Holdrege. In 1952, the family relocated to their "home place" in Harlan County, Nebraska, where Lavern and Marie continued to farm until Lavern's retirement in 1973. Following retirement, the couple moved into Holdrege.

Marie loved life on the farm, where she focused on raising their children, caring for their home, enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and worked side-by-side with Lavern. On May 2, 2000, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern. Due to failing health, Marie made her home at Holdrege Memorial Homes since March of 2006, where she received wonderful care and made many friendship bonds.

She was member of the All Saints Catholic Church, active with Alter Society serving many functions throughout the years. In her later years after moving to town, Marie enjoyed crocheting afghans and sharing her baked goods with family and friends.

She leaves to mourn her passing her three daughters: Mary Hammond and her husband, Sidney of Holdrege, Rose Anderson of Holdrege and Patricia Carter and her husband, Dale of San Marcus, California; one son, William Beiriger and his wife, Jean of rural Holdrege; six grandchildren: Karla Carter of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brenda Anderson of Irvine, CA, Mark Anderson of Johnson Lake, NE, Jennifer Mason and her husband, Eric of Lincoln, Christina Beiriger of Lincoln and Brent Beiriger of rural Holdrege; three great-grandsons: Dylan, Dallis and Gabriel; one brother, Gerald Sigl and his wife, Mary of rural Holdrege; brother-in-law, Irvin Beiriger and his wife, Wauneta of Omaha, NE; sisters-in-law: Irene Miller and her husband, John of Hastings, NE, Ann Beiriger of Concord, CA and Bernice Beiriger of Aurora, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
