Celebration of Life Service for Marilyn J. Hasbrouck will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska, following the service.
Marilyn Jean Hasbrouck, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Marilyn was born August 25, 1936, in Holdrege, the eldest of two daughters born to Harold W. and Elvera V. (Elf) Anderson. She received her education from Loomis Public Schools, graduating from Loomis High School with the class of 1955.
On December 4, 1959, Marilyn was united in marriage to Fred LeRoy Hasbrouck in Carson City, Nevada. She welcomed Fred's two children: Jim and Janice into her life. The family made their home in Lake Tahoe, California, where Marilyn worked various jobs in housekeeping and food service. On December 18, 1985, Fred preceded her in death. Marilyn returned back to Holdrege, where she was employed at Holdrege Memorial Homes and Phelps Memorial Health Center.
Marilyn enjoyed cooking, and roller skating when she was young. Throughout the years, Marilyn always had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her cats.
She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, where she was baptized and confirmed,
Besides her husband, and parents; she was preceded in death by step-son, Jim Hasbrouck and his wife, Connie.
Marilyn leaves to celebrate her life; her sister, Connie Anderson and her husband, Ward of rural Elm Creek, Nebraska; step-daughter, Janice Layton and her husband, Jerry of Oxford, Nebraska; one niece, Deborah Littell and her husband, Barry of Elm Creek; two nephews: Perry Anderson and his wife, Shelly of rural Elm Creek; and Bart Anderson and his wife, Shari of Loomis, Nebraska; along with a host of great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing, as the family is honoring Marilyn's wish for cremation.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Marilyn's honor and kindly suggested to the ruralMED Hospice.
