Funeral Services for Marilyn D. Klein will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Murray Jones, Doug Reed and Kevin Fore, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington, Nebraska at 2:00 p.m.
Marilyn Dee Klein, 66 years of age, of Funk, Nebraska, passed away following a lengthy illness on Friday, November 6, 2009 at her home in Funk with her devoted and caring husband, Tom by her side.
Marilyn was born March 9, 1943 at Lexington, the eldest of four children of Alfred Ross and Thelma Geraldine (Grant) Vollmer. She received her primary education at Dawson County District #21, north of Overton, Nebraska until the eighth grade. She then graduated from Overton High School with the class of 1962. Marilyn then pursued higher education at the Kearney Vocational School of Nursing, where she graduated and received her LPN credentials in 1965.
On November 28, 1965, she was united in marriage to Tommy Klein in Lexington and to this union two daughters: Debi and Mindy were born.
Marilyn worked as a nurse at Bethphage/Mosaic in Axtell until the time of her passing. She will always be remembered as a very generous and giving person. Her interests included spending time with her grandchildren and creating scrapbooks of her grandchildren from birth to their present age. Marilyn also enjoyed cross-stitching, and various quilting projects and donations.
She attended the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Tom of Funk; two daughters: Debi Jacobson and her husband, Bart of Funk, and Mindy Crum and her husband, Monte of Walden, Colorado; six grandchildren: Ty, Elizabeth, Caleb, and Jessica Jacobson and Merrit and Makeon Crum; sisters: Donna Jean Boggs and her husband, Frank and Marsha Joye Samuelson and her husband, Lyle all of Bertrand, Nebraska; brother, Gary Dean Vollmer and his wife, Dawn of Oxford, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Viva Klein of Lexington; brothers-in-law: Larry Klein and his wife, Marge of Fort Lupton, Colorado, David Klein of Waco, Nebraska and Terry Klein and his wife, Sandra of Beaver City, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Lawrence Klein, and nephew, Brian Klein.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
