Funeral Services for Marilyn M. Lavalleur will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Gene Layne officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.
Marilyn Maxine Lavalleur, 78 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Country House Residence in Kearney. Marilyn was born on April 30, 1938 in Minden, Nebraska, the younger of two daughters born to Carl August and Martha V. (Thompson) Anderson. She attended Minden Public Schools. Marilyn was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege and was baptized November 24, 1968.
On June 4, 1953, she was united in marriage to Earl LeRoy Lavalleur and to this union three children were born: Roberta, Bruce and Susan. Marilyn worked at Holdrege Memorial Homes in the laundry department for 30 years, later becoming the laundry supervisor. She enjoyed her job and the residents.
She enjoyed being involved in charity work through her church and was passionate about sending layette packages to babies in Haiti. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved her cats very much.
Besides her parents and husband, Earl; Marilyn is preceded in death by her sister, Carol Hunsberger.
She leaves to celebrate her life; her daughters: Roberta Mues of Kearney and Susan Gardner of Gretna, Nebraska; son, Bruce Lavalleur of Grand Island, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Michelle Carroll of Central City, Nebraska, Janelle McKinney and husband, Paul of Grand Island, Nebraska, Andrew Gardner of Gretna, Jason Lavalleur and his wife, Heather of Salem, Oregon and Blake Lavalleur and his wife, Betty of Grand Island; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother-in-law, Neil Hunsberger of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, one hour prior to the service at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Marilyn's honor and kindly suggested to Alzheimer's Association or the Kearney Area Animal Shelter.
