Mario Alonso Hernandez

Graveside Services for Mario A. Hernandez will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Mario Alonso Hernandez, 47 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019 at his home, following a courageous battle with carcinoma cancer. Mario was born March 30, 1972, in Hércules, Coahuila, Mexico, to Mario Hernandez Hernandez and Socorro Torres Saenz.  The family made their home in Hércules, where Mario received his primary education and later attended Benemérito de las Américas School.

On May 19, 1995, Mario was united in marriage to Moraima Ramirez in Jaco, Chihuahua, Mexico.  This union was blessed with four children:  Carlos, Emily, Michelle and Mya. The family lived in several states moving for Mario's job before they began to make their home in Holdrege.  Mario worked as a welder for Bilfinger Westcon, Inc.

Mario's passion was welding; he was a great welder and worked very hard. Everyone knew how talented he was. His foundation was based on his family, he loved spoiling his kids, especially the three girls, and playing with his grandkids. Mario was a fan of watching baseball, especially the Houston Astros, as well as Horse Racing.

He was a firm believer in Jesus Christ, and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Lexington, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Mario is survived by: his wife, Moraima Hernandez of Holdrege; four children: Carlos Hernandez and his girlfriend, Jacqueline Medina Lara of Holdrege; Emily Hernandez; Michelle Hernandez and Mya Hernandez, all of Holdrege; his grandchildren: Sebastian and Santiago Hernandez; his father and mother: Mario Hernandez and Socorro Torres; his siblings: Adrian Hernandez and his wife, Dora Leal; Diana Hernandez; and Sandra Hernandez and her husband, Martin Ontiveros; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Estanislado Ramirez and Eva Jimenez; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Mario's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
