Funeral Services for Marjorie G. Brown-Dyas will be conducted from the United Methodist Church at Oxford, Nebraska on Thursday, July 24, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Eldon E. Fablinger officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford cemetery.

Marjorie Gladys Brown-Dyas, 86 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska passed away on Monday, July 20, 2009 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. She was born on January 7, 1923 on the family farm near the Carter, Nebraska community the second of 11 children to Carl Otto and Clara Louise (Hoppe) Broeker. She attended Carter school through the 8th grade and graduated at Mascot High School with the class of 1941.

On December 26, 1942 she was united in marriage to Harold Brown, Jr., and to this union, five children were born: Mary, Gary, Dean, Leroy, and Kent.

The family made their home in rural Oxford.

Harold passed away on May 17, 1974.

On November 28, 1986 Marjorie was married to Dick Dyas and they made their home in Oxford, Nebraska. Marjorie enjoyed quilting, doing craft work, canning, and cooking. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marjorie leaves to mourn her husband, Dick of Oxford; four children: Mary Best of Oxford, Gary Brown of Oxford, Leroy Brown and his wife, Lynette of Oxford, and Kent Brown and his wife, Linda of Axtell, Nebraska; one daughter-in-law, Dorene Brown of Orleans, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; five sisters: Carla Ann Freeburg and her husband, LaVal of Holdrege, Ardis Proctor and her husband, Carl of Oxford, Berniece McQuiston of Oxford, Janice Maaske and her husband, Darrell of Loomis, Nebraska, Phyllis Thulin of Oxford; one brother, Wallace Broeker and his wife, Ortha of Orleans; sister-in-laws: LoRee Broeker of Oxford, Donna Dallman of Franklin, Nebraska, Margorie Phelps of McCook, Nebraska and LaVon Liebert of Norman, Oklahoma; and other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents and first husband, Harold, she was proceeded in death by her son, Dean A. Brown and brothers, Oral Broeker, Robert Broeker, Kenneth Broeker; and son-in-law, Donald "Bud" Best.

Marjorie will lie in state at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
