A Funeral Service for Mark K. Clark will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team. Following the service cremation will take place.
Mark K Clark, 65 years of age, of Alma, died, on June 4, 2021, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska. Mark was born in Burlington, Colorado on February 14, 1956, the sixth of ten children, born to Kenneth and Arlene (Wendell) Clark. He graduated from Shickley High School in Shickley, Nebraska, with the class of 1975.
Following his education, Mark enlisted in the United States Navy and retired after 24 years as a Chief Petty Officer. While active, Mark earned several ribbons and medals including: fourth good conduct award; sea service deployment ribbon; Navy recruiting ribbon; letter of commendation; Navy expeditionary medal; southwest Asia service medal; and national defense service.
On January 6, 1980, Mark was united in marriage to Leah Penaranda in the Philippines and to this union six children were born: John Warlao, Chrisna Marie, Hannah Joyce, Kyle Morgan, Cassandra Dawn, and Trevor James. The couple moved several times following Mark with his career in the Navy. The couple most enjoyed living in Woodbridge, Virginia when he commuted to work at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. The couple had quite the sense of humor and enjoyed picking on each other. They liked to go fishing, travel and take the family for joy rides.
After his retirement from the Navy, Mark worked for BD in Holdrege for 20 years and worked as Technical Setup.
He was a member of the Eagles Club in Holdrege. Mark was a talented craftsman making furniture and toys for his family.
Mark was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, John Warlao; three siblings: Rodney Clark; Vickie Carr; and Donna Wyman; one sister-in-law, Linda Clark; and one niece, Cathy Baasch.
Mark is survived by his wife, Leah Clark of Alma; five children: Chrisna Clark and her significant other, Stephen Zitnyar of Omaha, Nebraska; Hannah Hughes and her husband, Jesse of Beaver City, Nebraska; Kyle Clark and his wife, Julia of Grand Island, Nebraska; Cassandra Milberger and her husband, Zach of Alma; Trevor Clark of Grand Island; seven grandchildren: Jackson; Charlie; Henry; Oliver; Evelyn; Aria; and Ivy; great nieces and nephew: D'Janine; Floreign; and Vince; six siblings: Dennis Clark and his wife, Joan of Campball, Nebraska; Merlyn Clark of Holdrege; Karin Riepe and her husband, James of Englewood, Colorado; Sheryl Moulton and her husband, Jerry of Holdrege; Lonnie Clark and his wife, Lori of Longmont, Colorado; Steve Clark and his wife, Cindy of Oxford, Nebraska; two brothers-in-law; Craig Wyman of Gothenburg, Nebraska; and Manford Carr of Ottawa, Kansas; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Mark's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
