Mark Lee Melvin, 62 years of age, of rural Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018 at his home. Mark was born December 30, 1955, at DuQuoin, Illinois, the youngest of ten children born to Joseph and Violet (Johnson) Melvin. Mark received his education from DuQuoin High School, where he graduated with the class of 1973. Following his education, Mark was employed in various professions, and in his younger years was a wild cowboy.

On June 30, 1979, he was united in marriage to Debra Jo Brant, and to this union two daughters were born: Danielle Elizabeth and Robin Lee. With this marriage, Mark also accepted Debra's son, Keith Allen Brant into his life as his own. The couple moved to Holdrege in 1985, where Mark was employed by Allmand Brothers as a welder, and later worked as a HVAC Technician. He then furthered his education in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning at Hastings Technical College and eventually went out on his own in business and founded, Twin Repair Heating and Air. This business was named to honor his first grandchildren, twins: Tyler and Taylor. Mark continued to own and operate this business until his passing.

Mark was an avid fisherman, was a NASCAR fan, and loved music, especially playing his guitar. Many memories were created as he taught his entire family how to fish. When grandchildren came along, they were the highlight of his life.

With Mark and Debra, being together for almost 39 years as a couple were the best of times. Many hours were spent building their first house in Holdrege, and then later in years they remodeled their farmhouse together. On the farm, they enjoyed caring for their horses, chickens, cats, and dogs. Mark was a hardworking man, who always wanted the best for his family.

Besides his parents, Mark was preceded in death by four brothers, and one sister.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Debra Melvin of rural Holdrege; two daughters: Danielle Simmons of Holdrege; and Robin Melvin of Denver, Colorado; one step-son, Keith Allen Brant of Mosaic in Axtell, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Tyler and Taylor Melvin; Jayme Lee Simmons; Caley and Samantha Jensen; and Cannon Rodenbaugh; three brothers: Joseph Melvin and David Melvin both of DuQuoin, and Chris Melvin and his wife, Vicky of Holdrege; one sister, Nancy Melvin of DuQuoin; and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and other relatives and many friends.
