Memorial Graveside Services and Inurnment for Mark A. "Sarge" Wilkins will be conducted from the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska on Monday, November 23, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Nora Mendyk, officiating.
Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services will be followed. The Wilkins family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend Mark's services based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community.
Mark Allen "Sarge" Wilkins, 55 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mark was born November 23, 1964, at Holdrege, the youngest of three sons born to William Dee Wilkins, Sr. and Betty Lou (Knoedler) Wilkins. He received his education from Holdrege Public Schools.
Following his education, Mark began working for his brother, Bill and then relocated to Grand Island, Nebraska, where he worked on a roofing crew that traveled to Norfolk, Nebraska. Sarge then began a long career in the restaurant business as a cook. He was well known for his cooking talents and throughout the years he was employed at the Tower Motel Restaurant; worked side-by-side with his mother at the Cozy Inn in Holdrege as an assistant cook; the Bowling Alley; and in the deli at Sun Mart Grocery Store.
Sarge was a fun loving guy who loved motorcycles and enjoyed traveling to Sturgis, South Dakota camping. He had a special connection and love for his kitty. Mark was a member of the Eagles in Holdrege, where he made many friendships. He had a unique personality, and was a man who spoke his mind. He was truly one in a million!
Besides his parents; Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Wilkins on November 14, 1982; and several aunts and uncles.
He leaves to celebrate his life; his brother, William D. "Bill" Wilkins, Jr. of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, one nephew, great-nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Mark's honor, and kindly suggested to the family to help pay for expenses.
