It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marlo Royce Kreutzer, age 85, of Funk, Nebraska, on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Marlo lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to family, and committed to his community.

He was born on January 29, 1940, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Emil and Lila Kreutzer of Elm Creek. He grew up with his siblings, Donna Jean Johnson and Terry Kreutzer. Marlo attended a rural school near Holdrege for elementary education and later graduated from Holdrege High School with the Class of 1957.

On August 6, 1961, Marlo married the love of his life, Sharon Lavene of Bertrand, Nebraska. Together, they celebrated 63 years of marriage and built a beautiful life, raising three children: Mark, Scott, and Marla.

In 1964, Marlo and Sharon made their home in Funk, Nebraska. Marlo worked for Holdrege Coop Equity Exchange during the early years of their marriage. In 1973, Ralston Purina approached him with the opportunity to start his own business, and on October 1, 1973, he opened Livestock Feeders Service, Inc. in Holdrege. Over the next 52 years, the business became a family endeavor and a cornerstone of the local agricultural community. His son Mark continues to carry on the legacy.

Faith played a central role in Marlo's life. He became a member of Fridhem Lutheran Church when he was baptized on August 6, 1964, the same day as their wedding anniversary. Marlo was active in the church and served faithfully on the cemetery board and the church board.

A strong supporter of his community, Marlo gave generously of his time and leadership. He proudly served two terms as an elected Phelps County Supervisor. He served on the Holdrege Chamber of Commerce, Holdrege Ambassadors, the Phelps Memorial Health Center Board of Directors, the Funk Lions Club, and the Heartland Cruisers. He was honored with several awards by various organizations that he supported, including the Outstanding Friend of 4-H award.

Marlo enjoyed playing golf, cards, racquetball, bowling, and pitching horseshoes. He also enjoyed square dancing, camping, and boating with his family. Marlo always had a joke or quick-witted remark ready to share, bringing laughter and joy to his customers, friends, and family.

Marlo was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lila Kreutzer; his sister, Donna Jean Johnson and her husband, Waynard; in-laws, Paul and Dorothy Lavene; brothers-in-law: Darrel Lavene and Kent Lavene; sister-in-law, Melissa Kreutzer; and his nephews: Clettis Johnson and Mike Johnson.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Sharon; children: Mark (Rita) Kreutzer of Holdrege, Scott (Karen) Kreutzer of Loomis, and Marla (Armando) Cesare of Avon, OH; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jonathan (Ashley) Kreutzer and children: Casen, Sawyer, Raeleigh, Ronan, Ezra, Griffin; Tabitha (Jesse) Hill and children: Reese, Jade, Jaelyn; Tessa (Devin) Gall and children: Kip, Brett, Hallie, John; Matthew (Amanda) Kreutzer and children: Adelaide, Margaret, Eleanor; Nathan (Casey Gieseking) Kreutzer; Megan (Will) Jones and child: Genevieve; Brenden (Clare) Kreutzer and child: Ander; Jonnah (special friend Breana Townsend) Cesare; Diego Cesare; and Isabella Cesare; brother Terry (Cindee) Kreutzer, sisters-in-law: Veronica Lavene and Nancy (Rich) Fowler; brothers-in-law: Ron (Sharon) Lavene and Frank Ellis.
