A Funeral Service for Marlys (Nelson) Sundquist (Mrs. Ronald Sundquist) will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Fridhem Lutheran Church, Funk, Nebraska, with Pastor Daren Popple officiating.  Interment will immediately follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, Nebraska.

Marlys (Nelson) Everett Sundquist (Mrs. Ronald Sundquist), 88 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. Marlys was born in Holdrege, on December 14, 1937, the second of three children, born to Ray E. and Gladys M. (Anderson) Nelson. She received her primary education from Holdrege Public School and then attended and graduated from Holdrege High School, with the class of 1955.

Marlys was united in marriage to Roger K. Everett.  They were blessed with two daughters:  Jody and Melanie.  Marlys worked as a bookkeeper for Artistic Woven Labels in Holdrege and later at Oleson Radio and T.V. as a salesperson.

Marlys enjoyed spending time with her family for big family get-togethers, especially her grandchildren and watching car racing.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege and later the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Gladys Nelson; a brother, Marvin Nelson in 1956; her daughter, Jody Lonn in 2020 and her husband, Jerry in 2014; and a son-in-law, Dale Quakenbush.

Marlys is survived by her husband, Ronald Sundquist of Holdrege; her daughter: Melanie Quakenbush of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren: Anthony (Joseph) Lonn of Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada; Betty (Phil) Smith of Minden, Nebraska; Siobhan (Dustin) Ritterbush of Kearney, Nebraska; Stephanie (Clint) Brantley of Minden; Sway (Travis) Greuter of Kearney; Trey (Heather Bailey) Murrell of Lincoln, Nebraska; Ryan (Shayna) Murrell of Syracuse, Nebraska; and Jamalle (Tyne) Reeves of Erie, Colorado; great-grandchildren: Chase Smith, Joplin Smith, Anais Sowles, Haven Smith, Sonny Sowles, Kalista Sowles, Jasper Smith, Hunter Ritterbush, Kathryn Ritterbush, Chloe and Sam Brantley, Charley, Kristian, and Kale Greuter; and Ryleigh, Dylan and Jordyn Murrell; and Keyanna, Trystan, Oaklynn, Hayzel, and Legynd Reeves; her sister, Marlene Hodges and husband, Lee of Johnson Lake, Nebraska; along with extended family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
