Mary C. Larson

Funeral Services for Mary C. Larson will be conducted from the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church in rural Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Cal Hiebert, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Mary Charlotte Larson, 84 years of age, of Lincoln, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege, Nebraska) passed away on Friday, June 27, 2008 at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mary was born January 10, 1924 at Holdrege, the daughter of John and Hilda (Carlson) Larson. Mary received her education from Holdrege Public Schools and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1941. She then pursued higher education at the Luther College in Wahoo, Nebraska and then returned home to Holdrege and worked at the First National Bank until her marriage.

On September 28, 1947 Mary was united in marriage to Winston E. Larson. The couple made their home on the Larson family farm north of Holdrege and to this union three children were born: Robert, Janet and James. The family continued to live on the homestead where Winston was born and in 1999 the couple moved into Holdrege. They were active members of the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church, where Mary served in many capacities including: taught Sunday school for many years and active in the Women's Ministry Group. In 2004, they moved to the Grand Lodge in Lincoln, where they could be closer to their children. On April 6, 2006, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Winston.

Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, needlework, gardening, reading, traveling and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Robert Larson and his wife, Pam of Lincoln, Janet Winter and her husband, Bernie of Papillion, Nebraska, and James Larson and his wife, Ann of Papillion; six grandchildren: Matthew Larson and his wife, Anne of Lansing, Michigan, Eric Larson of Houston, Texas, Alison Winter of Omaha, Nebraska, Hilary Winter of Papillion, Mark Larson and his wife, Ashley of Lincoln and Bethany Larson of Papillion; one brother-in-law, Phil Jahn of Grand Island, Nebraska and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Monday, June 30, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
