A Celebration of Life Service for Mary J. Jensen will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at the Gutterz Fun Center in Holdrege, Nebraska.
Mary Jo Jensen, 66 years of age, of Holbrook, Nebraska, died on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Tri-Valley Health Systems in Cambridge, Nebraska. Mary was born on September 12, 1956 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the second of five children, born to Donald and Jo Anne (Lillie) Murray. She received her education from Holdrege Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1974.
Following her education, Mary worked at the Holdrege Daily Citizen as the circulation manager and later, worked in childcare for many years.
On September 30, 1983, Mary was united in marriage to Guy Jensen at the Courthouse in Alma, Nebraska and to this union two sons were born: Benjamin and Matthew. The family made their home in Atlanta, Nebraska. The marriage later ended in divorce.
Mary enjoyed camping with her family and was an avid reader. Family was most important to Mary, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jo Anne Murray; brother, David Murray; and sister, Lauri Lawson.
Mary is survived by her sons: Benjamin Jensen and his girlfriend, Amanda McCarter of Cozad, Nebraska; and Matthew Jensen and his wife, Dani of Jacksonville, Florida; 4 grandchildren: Hailey Jensen; Dalton McCarter; Emma Jensen; and Jordan Jensen; two brothers: Dan Murray; and Mark Murray; sister-in-law, Kari Murray; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
There will be no memorial book signing or visitation. The family has honored her wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Mary's honor, and kindly suggested to the family.
