Funeral Services for Mary A. Larson will be conducted from the Westmark Evangelical Free Church north of Loomis, Nebraska on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Scherer and Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating.  Interment will be in the Sandstrom Cemetery in Phelps County, Nebraska following the services.

Mary Arminta Larson, 90 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of rural Loomis and Bertrand, Nebraska) passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege.  Mary was born May 23, 1924 on a farm in Hickory County, Missouri near Flemington, the eldest of two children born to John Raymond and Lola Bell (Samples) Mason.  Mary received her primary education from a rural school near Weaubleau, Missouri and then graduated from Weaubleau High School.  Following high school, Mary was baptized in the Baptist faith and attended the Minneapolis Bible College.

During WW II, Mary was employed in Kansas City, Missouri making radio crystals for the military and was also employed by Jones Department Store as a clerk.

On April 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Roland H. Larson at the Weaubleau, Missouri Baptist Church.  To this union three children were born:  Darwin, Brenda, and Alan.  The family made their home on Roland's grandfather's homestead north of Loomis.  Roland and Mary engaged in farming on the family homestead north of Loomis and also raised livestock.  Throughout the years, Mary was also employed by Christian Homes as a night nursing aid and later in years worked at Becton-Dickinson for several years.  On May 30, 1989, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Roland.  She continued to reside on the farm until 1990 when she began to make her home in Bertrand.  In late 2005, Mary began to make her home at the Christian Homes Care Community.

Mary was a devoted member of the Westmark Evangelical Free Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active with several women's groups.  Throughout the years on the farm, she enjoyed cooking meals to be delivered to the field and could often be found assisting with the farm work and livestock.

Besides her husband and parents; Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Fern Johnson and her husband, Paul J. Johnson; brothers-in-law:  Ralph Larson, Elliott Larson, Warren Larson and his wife, Lois, Raymond Larson, Clifton Larson, and Elton Larson and his wife, Mavis.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her two sons:  Darwin Larson and his wife, Carla of Ansley, Nebraska and Alan Larson of Holdrege; one daughter, Brenda Johnson and her husband, James of rural Holdrege; five grandchildren:  Daniel Larson of Ansley, David Larson and his wife, Melissa of Ansley, Katie Hull and her husband, Adam of Hurst, Texas, Justin Johnson and his wife, Jacquelyn of rural Holdrege and Shane Johnson and his wife, Kristen of Holdrege; eight great-grandchildren:  Cassie Ray Larson, Kolby and Kason Larson, Johnathan, Jaelyn and Jameson Johnson, and Ellie and Jace Hull; sisters-in-law:  Gladys Larson, LaVaughn Larson, Delores Larson, and Rosie Hartmann all of Holdrege and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Mary's honor and will be designated at a later date.
