Mary Ann (Churchill) Lehmer, 82 years of age, of Orleans, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Bethany Home in Minden, Nebraska. Mary Ann was born in Orleans on June 30, 1941, the only daughter born to Robert and Mary (Russell) Churchill, and the fourth of four children raised by the couple. Mary Ann received her primary education and graduated from Orleans High School, with the class of 1959. She pursued higher education from Kearney State College and attained a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
She was united in marriage to Donald Wolfe and they were blessed with three daughters: Dawn, Adeana, and Melissa. The couple later divorced. She was then united in marriage to Raymond Lehmer and they welcomed a daughter, Ramona. The couple later divorced. She especially enjoyed teaching children to read and her daughters and many grandchildren have a love for reading.
Mary Ann taught at Red Cloud, Nebraska, Oxford, Nebraska and Long Island, Kansas. She owned and operated, The Place, a bar in Holdrege, and later served as the Orleans City Clerk, for many years.
Mary Ann loved to go antiquing, and always found the perfect pieces to add to her collection! She loved decorating her 1880's Victorian home which she owned since 1964. Mary Ann loved her many cats she had over the years, especially Elroy (whom she may have liked more than her children.) Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by; her brother, Robert Delimont and his wife, Gladys; her sister, Florence Case and her husband, Ivan; and brother-in-law, Jim Dunlay.
Mary Ann leaves to celebrate her life; her daughters: Dawn Wolfe of Kearney, Nebraska; Adeana Rubenthaler and her husband, Tom of Gothenburg, Nebraska; Melissa Wolfe and partner, Scott Kerr of St. Louis, Missouri; and Ramona Coffey and her husband, Brent of Orleans; 11 grandchildren: Christopher (Renee) Wolfe of Silver Spring, Maryland; Kyle Worden (Jamie Ransdell) of Kearney; Chelsea Worden of Kearney; Kaitlyn (Thomas) Smith of Kearney; Alecia (Adam) Miller of Gibbon, Nebraska; Jacob (Nicole) Rubenthaler of Gothenburg; Khelsey Rubenthaler (Cody McFadden) of Gothenburg; Ashley Dunn of St. Louis, Missouri; Hank Dunn of St. Louis, Missouri; Ian Coffey of Orleans; and Kimberly Coffey of Orleans; ten great-grandchildren: Athena, Nimue, Charlotte, Joslyn, Max, Aaron, Andy, Avah, Blake, and Makenzie; one sister, Frances Dunlay of Orleans; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
