Funeral Services for Mary Lou Jensen will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Congregational Bible Church in Red Cloud, Nebraska with Pastor Craig Roberts officiating. Interment will be held at the Red Cloud Cemetery in Red Could.
Mary Lou Jensen, 79 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Red Cloud passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. She was born on November 26, 1930 in Inavale, Nebraska to George S. and Tula Pearl (Deeder) Heffelbower. She grew up in the Red Cloud area, where she graduated from Red Cloud High School. She then attended Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska, where she received her Master's Degree in Education. On June 20, 1950, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Robert Jensen in Red Cloud, and to this union, three children were born: Lydia, James and Kiley. The family made their home in the Inavale area, where Mary Lou was employed by the Red Cloud Rural School District until moving to the Guide Rock School District, where she later retired in 1995.
Mary Lou was a member of the Congregational Bible Church in Red Cloud, where she served as the choir director, pianist, and also served in several other capacities. She was also a member of the Delta-Kappa-Gamma Sorority and the Pleasant Valley Extension Club.
First and foremost was her love for the Lord, she also enjoyed playing the piano and guitar, gardening, feeding birds and volunteering at the Heritage Nursing Home in Red Cloud, and spending time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother David and his wife Wilma Heffelbower.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Bob of Holdrege, Nebraska, one son, James Jensen and his wife, Janet of Holdrege; two daughters: Lydia Jensen of Bellevue, Nebraska, Kiley Maudlin and her husband, Terry of Inavale; three grandchildren: Jennifer Scheides and her husband, Chris of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jessica Russell and her husband, Jeremy of Holdrege and Jimmy Jensen and his wife, Hiedi of Holdrege; 10 great-grandchildren; one niece, Holly Heffelbower of Lincoln, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family greeting from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
